11 November - International Day of Energy Saving. This holiday is quite young, it has been celebrated since 2008, which is understandable: humanity has never had enough equipment to require the supply of electricity. Why it is necessary to save electricity, how to do it right and most importantly, how not to do it - the article will tell.
Why you need to save energy
Since childhood, we perceive energy saving requirements as an attempt to save personal finances. And now, when many of us have started earning well, great is the temptation to allow "not saving on yourself". However, energy savings are needed not only to save their money. This is a good will, a step of a conscious person on the path of protecting the environment and caring for it.
- By saving 100 watts of electricity, you save 50 kg of coal, 30 liters of oil or 30 liters of natural gas. Natural resources are limited and electricity is being consumed around the world more and more.
- Power generation is often accompanied by harmful emissions into the atmosphere. We consume less, we get less exhaust gases.
- Preserve resources for future generations. "After us, even a flood" is a bad ideology for a conscious person.
17 simple tricks to save energy
- Turn off the lights when you leave! It is as old as the world, it has bristled its teeth since childhood, but it works perfectly and for free.
- Replacing lamps in the house with LED ones. The hourly savings compared to incandescent lamps is 40 kopecks per lamp. This is indeed a very profitable event.
- Spot lighting. The use of table lamps, wall lights and floor lamps in place of a permanently lit ceiling light.
- Cleaning is the key to saving. Clean windows and light fixtures will help you save about a third of your energy consumption (compared to dirty ones).
- Light walls, ceilings and furniture also help to reduce light on a rainy day by reflecting light.
- Gas stove instead of electric. The replacement of a working electric stove with a gas one, of course, will not have an economic advantage. But if you decide to buy a new stove, think about this aspect too.
- Washing at low temperatures can save up to 30% energy. There is no need to press at full speed. So you will save your clothes and the electricity bill will come a little less.
- Use the air conditioner economically with closed doors and windows.
- The refrigerator must be placed away from the stove or battery.
- If your fridge does not have a No Frost system, remember to defrost it regularly.
- Heat water for tea or coffee on the gas stove. At the same time, the use of an electric kettle is cheaper than an electric stove.
- For an electric cooker, the dishes in which the food is cooked must match the size of the cooking zones. Remember to also cover pots and pans when cooking.
- Disconnect from the network all devices you are not currently using. And chargers for phones, TVs, microwaves and washing machines, connected to the network, continue to be senselessly powered by energy. To simplify this process, put the refrigerator on a separate panel and turn off the rest of the devices from the common panel, leaving the house.
- You can switch off the iron about 10 minutes before the scheduled end of ironing.
- When drying your hair, do not blow dry. This is healthier for your hair than drying it completely and will help save you some energy.
- Activate the "power saving" mode on your gadgets.
- Set a two-tariff counter for electricity and use delayed start for washing machines and dishwashers to wash and wash dishes at night.
How not to save on electricity
- Deception of management companies. Counter manipulations lead to its breakdown at best. At worst, it can lead to fires and deaths. If the deception is revealed, you will have to pay the difference in testimony and an administrative fine.
- Replacement of properly functioning equipment with equipment with a higher energy consumption class. If your equipment is working properly, you shouldn't have to spend money on its replacement. You will receive the economic effect of such an event in about 15 years.
- Replacing a good wiring harness only makes sense if it cannot withstand the increased voltage in the network. For energy prevention and saving, this also has a dubious economic effect. After all, the replacement of the wiring will cost a lot and the "loss" of electricity is not very high per year. Hence, it takes 100 years to benefit from this operation.
Conserving resources, approaching in a meaningful way the distribution of energy (including one's own), thinking about future generations: these are the motivations of a modern conscious person. Not excluding personal savings.
